Looking for Heaven

Once a warrior came to a renowned Saint with a quest for higher spiritual experience.

The Warrior asked the Saint, ‘Oh Saint! What is heaven & what is hell? How do I gain higher spiritual knowledge while being surrounded by this materialistic world? Please guide me’

The Silent Saint burst into a laughter & said, ‘You, You wish for higher knowledge, someone who only knows how to fight & kill people! GO AWAY. Spiritual knowledge is not for you!”

Taken aback by this scornful remark, the warrior persisted, ‘Oh Wise one! I want to know how to maintain this balance between my duties & the call of my soul. This is why I am here’.

With a sarcastic smile, the saint said, ‘Oh forget about it. You are too foolish & stuck in this feverishness for success & wealth. This knowledge is not for you. Go Back’.

The warrior was shocked; He had never been treated like this before.

He controlled his anger & said, “I am asking for the last time. Share your knowledge, or die”.

The saint started laughing.

This made the warrior very angry. He wanted to teach the saint a lesson. He brought out his sword & as the sword reached the saints neck, the saint looked at him, smiled & said ‘…THIS..., what you are experiencing now, is HELL’.

The warrior was awestruck. The saint had risked his own life, to give him an experience of what hell was!!  He could not believe what had just happened. He felt tremendous gratitude & love.

The sword dropped from his hand, the warrior fell on his knees & tears of gratitude rolled down his cheeks.

The saint smiled again & said “…and THIS, what u r experiencing now, is HEAVEN’.

We create our own Heaven & Hell!

We are in Heaven: 
when a child smiles at us, when we feel love or gratitude, when we make someone smile or do something not because the act will bring me laurels, but because it makes me happy.

When we feel negativity towards someone, we are not able to forget that one harsh comment or forgive a mistake or not able to change some irrational behavioural pattern, the fire within gives us a glimpse of Hell.

We are often told not to get angry, but rarely ever taught about what we should do, in case anger creeps in!!

The important thing is to put in a consistent effort with awareness to transform every unpleasant experience into a pleasant one!! 

When looking for a new destination, a guide or a road map is needed. There are several external methods, meditations & techniques that work as a road map & lead us to a more peaceful way of existence.

I Thank God & Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji for giving me this beautiful, life- transforming breathing technique ‘Sudarshan Kriya', that helps me change every momentous hell into a permanent heaven!!

We often hear discussions about a need for change in a government or country or society. We must remember that this world is made up of 'us': people like you & me. The biggest transformation has to start with one person & that 'one person' can be YOU!
